Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, an American-Mexican sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. The child of TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since the age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first position as production assistant for Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. She was hired as reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate after that. In 2009, she relocated to Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Reports on her show covered immigration issues drugs, immigration, as well as others on the Texas and Mexico border. She was also an anchor and Spanish reporter on the newscast at 5 p.m., an anchor and reporter of the newscast of 9 p.m. with a reporter and anchor in English as well as also a Spanish reporter from 10 p.m. Anchor duties for weather or sports were regularly requested. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She was a reporter for events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted her own local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted to anchor the sports segment on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins was born in the city of Veracruz, Mexico. The family moved from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. There is also an older sister. The family in 1992 left Mexico and moved to Miami. The couple divorced shortly after and in 1995 her mother was remarried to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, the younger Collins had taken a position alongside her elder sister. Antonietta was a senior in high school who had a vision of how she would like her life to be like, visited Mount Union University in order to find out if the school suited her. The campus was beautiful and offered the degree she sought. After high school, she graduated and enrolled into media school at the university. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU in which she is a member. They formed a strong connection. It was he who inspired her confidence, and his passion for journalism deeply touched her. In turn, she strived to fulfill his expectations and never let him down.
