Selena Quintanilla......................Selena was born April 16 1971 in Corpus Christi Texas . Marcela Quintanilla's youngest child, Selena was born the 16th of April, 1971 in Corpus Christi, Texas. When Selena aged eighteen, she began a career in a band that was formed by her dad. Selena joined with her siblings Abraham Junior who was on the bass guitar; Sister Suzette was playing the drums. Selena performed as the lead singer. Selena Y Los Dino, the band she performed with was known as Selena Y Los Dino. They also performed at wedding fairs, as and in restaurants. The band was very busy for Selena as well as her brothers and sisters, so they didn't have much of an early childhood, but they were pushed to become committed musicians due to the dedication from the father Abraham. Abraham senior was a member of Los Dinos, the band which was the first to get it started. Selena Y Los Dinos officially started in the year 1981. It was a family business and the main source of income for the Quintanilla family. Even though there were times of struggle starting out with very little money the Quintanilla family persevered and remained focused in their endeavors to be an extremely successful group. Selena Y Los Dinos achieved recognition throughout the West states in the late 1980s. In 1986, the group got their first taste of success in the form of Selena won awards for Female Singer of the Year and Best Performer at the Tejano music awards.
